Pinpin dit qu’il va faire beau (il faut s’habituer aux codes couleur)…

J’ai reçu vendredi dernier mon NaBazTag, le premier lapin Wi-Fi. Le mien s’appelle Pinpin, et vous pouvez lui envoyer des messages via le site. C’est vraiment un gadget totalement inutile mais somme toute très bien conçu, bourré d’idées prometteuses… J’essaierai de poster quelques-unes de mes expériences. Mon seul reproche: la voix, enfantine et somme toute un peu inaudible: des fois on ne comprend carrément pas ce qu’elle raconte. J’aimerai aussi qu’il y ait plus d’informations techniques, et que l’on puisse ajouter ses propres services.

Tiens, ça fait longtemps que je n’ai rien posté Depuis mon dernier post, j’ai failli changer de job (mais finalement je suis toujours au même endroit :-), j’ai fait un petit saut à Maidenhead, UK en formation, je suis parti en vacances, et maintenant je pars en mission à Lexington, Kentucky. Mais je vais quand même essayer de faire des efforts!

Récemment, François évoquait le problème du recyclage du matériel informatique. C’est un problème qui semble ridiculement mal traité en France, comme l’indique François dans son post. Il existe quelques sociétés qui reprennent des matériels périmés, mais ils ne s’adressent qu’aux (grandes) entreprises. Le Canada et les U.S. semblent tout de même plus avancés dans le domaine, avec des assos qui récupèrent le matériel pour le remettre en état et le réutiliser. Peut-être quelque chose à lancer en France?!

Si vous habitez la région parisienne, une bonne adresse tout de même: Emmaüs Informatique à Trappes (78). Ils récupèrent les matériels électroniques et informatiques (sans contrepartie), puis les retapent pour les mettre à disposition de familles aux revenus limités, ou les vendent en pièces détachées.

I found the Kylie Minogue + New Order “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head vs. Blue Monday” remix on an Inrockuptibles compilation CD a few months ago, but I didn’t know there were so many of them: Céline Dion vs. Sigur Ros, (I love Sigur Ros!) For some reason, I’ve suddenly started posting in English.

I’ve been a bit reluctant to do that for a number of reasons: 1) there are so many geeky weblogs in English, at least mine would be in French; 2) my written English is certainly not as good as my written French, and that’s not saying much; 3) for most French people, writing your thoughts in English sounds kind of snub, and I don’t want to sound snub.

On the other hand, there are a few arguments in favor of English: 1) a large proportion of my potential audience (i.e. weird geeks all over the world) has absolutely no notion of the French language and have to resort to BabelFish to get a translation and then giggle a little bit about the result and then go read something else; 2) most of the Java/WebLog/whatever crowd is either a native English speaker or can read English effortlessly, so why bother writing in a future ex-language like French; 3) improving my English writing skills will boost my value on the job market and open myriads of business opportunities all over the world; 4) I will join a small crowd of French English-writing bloggers, like Cedric or Roland.

So, well, I’ll try English for a while and see how it goes.
